+1 for smartboards. Part of the key is the software that comes with it. Yea you can continue to use crappy boring powerpoint on it and it will do just fine but using Smart Notebook with a smartboard is a very cool thing to see. The early models failed somewhat, replacements and all of the 2nd gen ones we have gotten are trouble free and they are in use 6 hours a day in the classroom. We probably have 250+ of them.
