Thanks... I think there's a Batteries Plus in Chattanooga, which is closer
than Atlanta area, at least for me. :-) From work here, it's about the same
distance, but it gives me an excuse to go to Chattanooga. ;-)

Take it to a nearby Batteries Plus for free testing. They can inexpensively
(relatively) replace the battery if that's the problem and re-cycle it if
it's other hardware.

The battery can be replaced however; usually at a fraction of the cost of
the UPS.
