I don't see why. If they were commercially motivated, then any big company with lots of customers is fair game. If they were emotively motivated (umm!), then the court case has nothing to do with MS. Claiming they would be the "next target" just makes no sense to me.
What you can be sure of is that if this breach is what it looks like it could be, then it could be one of the worst ever - just in terms of the ID and financial theft possibilities with that much info. If the passwords are breached, think about how many (statistically nearly all!) people use a single password or slight variation for all sites. Ouch. If you are affected by this, do not ever use that password anywhere else again in your lifetime and ask your card company to issue you with a new card number. Beyond that, expect lots of spam/phishing. I've seen loads as a result of Epsilon. That brings on another point .. SSO is all well and fine, but remember .. Epsilon were the "SSO" of marketing emails. If the single point fails, we're all in the poo ...! a -----Original Message----- From: Rod Trent [mailto:rodtr...@myitforum.com] Sent: 27 April 2011 14:25 To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: Massive Databreach of Sony Playstation Database, Nobody cares about the Wii so it will never be hacked. :) I'm sure those that hacked the PSN will attempt/have attempted/are still trying to attempt to hack Xbox Live. Bet Microsoft is scrambling to batten down the hatches right now. -----Original Message----- From: Ziots, Edward [mailto:ezi...@lifespan.org] Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 9:20 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: Massive Databreach of Sony Playstation Database, More food for thought, I am sure that other devices ( WII, Xbox, etc etc) could also be exploitable, it underlies a bigger problem with database security in general. If you have provided information from your playstations to Sony to download content, you might want to be watching your CC Card information and other accounts very carefully, since your information is probably in the possession of unauthorized parties atm. http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/138557/20110427/sony-playstation-suffers -massive-data-breach-criticized.htm Sincerely, EZ Edward E.
