Carlos's instructions tell you to use a combination of BootX and quik, which there is nothing really wrong with, but BootX requires booting in OS9 (I doubt OS8 would be sufficient for versions of BootX that actually work, i.e. 1.2.2 and above), and quik can be a PITA because its settings are stored in NVRAM, which is maintained only by the AC power on OldWorld models, which means that every time there is a power failure or you unplug the machine, you lose all your quik settings, causing Linux to fail to boot. This leaves miBoot, but the version of miBoot on the Debian floppies is buggy, so the version from this project is preferable. However, none of this has much to do with the problem you're experiencing. >From your description, the first possible diagnosis I could propose would be a mismatch between the kernel and the initrd. On OldWorld models, playing musical kernels, which is necessary during the installation process, must be done manually. If Debian is your choice for a distribution, you should first decide whether your installed system will follow sarge, etch, or sid. After you have made your decision and said what it is, please specify exactly which Debian CD you have and plan to use for the installation. I can discuss all this in greater detail on IRC if that would be convenient for you. ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
