Most of the stuff in uistate.ini is not stuff you would want to have
site-wide defaults for, but a few things that really should be knobs on
the Preferences node live in there for reasons that are unclear to me.
Most importantly, these two settings:
[localisation]
maxSizeFiles=-20480
[viewer]
playbackcacheSize=20
These are settable by the user in the Preferences window, but the value
is stored in uistate.ini instead of as knobs on the Preferences node.
I don't see any way to have default site-wide settings for these
settings. uistate.ini files stored on the plugin path (but not in the
.nuke folder) don't seem to be read. There are no knob values to set
with python in a menu.py. There is nothing in the preferences file.
Does anyone have a sensible workaround for this?
