Some one already mentioned it, You can set it to only have 1 panel open
at a time, right under the properties tab there is a field with a number
in it. I think default it is 10. You can set that to 1. Personally I
find 2-4 most useful.

turn of the overlays. or try to decrease the max Panels Number from 10
to 1 you will find this just below your Properties Bin. This shows you
the last x selected nodes. Sometimes it´s easier only to have shown
the last selected node.
