I've been using a project called nukeExternalControl (GitHub) to inter-app communicate 
between python and nuke. It isn't fast but seems like it would probably do the job for 
you provided that Nuke's python interface allows a "paste" into it's editor. It 
definitely can run python commands internally on Nuke from as external interpreter. 
Internally it seems to use sockets.
