This tends to be a problem with digital cinema cameras. Red plates especially tend to have horrific pulsating low frequency noise that becomes very apparent in extractions.
The best solution to avoid pulsating edges I've found so far is to denoise using NeatVideo <http://www.neatvideo.com/> with the temporal samples cranked up, and then add the grain back post-extraction.
