The SF .exe superpack installers contains three installers: plain, SSE2 and SSE3 support. easy_install doesn't know what to do with such an installer. See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.numeric.general/29395/focus=29582for the discussion on why things are as they are now. Ralf
