Hi! Nostradamiq.org looks quite interesting! I am curious to chat more - let's get in touch, I will PM you. I am in Vancouver, originally from Hamburg : )
One of my ideas is to use air pressure and acceleration data from sensors in a smartphone as a basis for a project. For example: I am curious to see if one could use NuPIC to classify who is carrying the phone, based on periodic and characteristic features in the data due to walking. Applications in healthcare and security are related. Somewhat related: There is an Android App called "PressureNet" - a distributed air pressure sensor network based on smartphones. Goal is weather forecast. I haven't tried it out yet and don’t know what they use for a predictive model. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.cumulonimbus.barometernetwork&hl=en I saved some raw pressure data and was surprised how good the sensors are. On my Galaxy S3 I can see the effect of lifting the phone up a meter or two… in the raw pressure data plotted vs time.
