This is what I understood from your previous mail. But I believe what Jimmy was suggesting is that you could configure NUT to begin shutting down the system *before* your UPS reaches battery.charge.low (30%); for example, to do it when your battery charge drops below 90%, or to do it as soon as the power failure starts. This should give the system enough time to shut down before your UPS decides to turn itself off. > The UPS behaves exactely AS IF IT WAS NOT SUPPERVISED. I disagree. An unsupervised UPS should not shut down when it reaches battery.charge.low. > My guess is that there is some logic within the USBS 750 that makes > him decide, upon reaching the low battery state, to negociate with a > software that suppervises him (over the USB or serial port) OR, if > not suppervised by software, to shut down itself immediately to > protect its battery. > > My guess is that this behavior is not properly working, and they may > be two reasons > * OR the Ellipse has a firmware issue that makes him believe it > is not suppervised when suppervised through the SERIAL port (and not > the USB) > * OR NUT is not properly sending some commands to set some > parameters to the UPS to make it enter the proper mode. > > Any hints from MGE people here ? > > thanks > > fred > > -----Message d'origine----- > De : [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] De la part de > Fr=E9d=E9ric > POTTER > Envoy=E9 : mercredi 27 septembre 2006 08:28 > =C0 : [email protected] > Objet : [Nut-upsuser] Ellipse 750 USBS auto shutdown and NUT. > > > > Hello, > > I've installed & configured NUT 2.0.4 connected over a serial port to an > MGE > USBS 750. > > When the UPS enters the 'critical' state (ie, battery load below the > defined > battery.charge.low AND power input off), the UPS just shutdown itself > instead of notifying NUT. > When I say the UPS just shutdown, I mean it autonomously shut down > itself > within one second after reaching the low battery state (which is > defaulted > to 30%).
