No I just meant that I could not communicate to my APC UPS unless I had the config in hyperterminal the way I stated, and it would not respond to any command until I sent “Y”.

The link above does not mention that last part. Another thing I learned is that for me at least, my UPS wouldn’t talk to me at all until I sent it the “Y” command. I must send this every time the UPS is turned off and then back on, or else it will return no communication. Didn’t know if you wanted to add this information to that page or confirm it to anyone else.
