I had a problem with memory too. I don't know much but i tried changing "JAVA_HEAP_MAX=-Xmx1500m" value to "JAVA_HEAP_MAX=-Xmx800m" on 512 MB RAM.
It is in "bin" directory file "nutch". Like "bin/nutch".
