Development is proceeding, although somewhat slower. Initially development was largely funded by Overture. That funding has diminished. Now principal development is by volunteer contributors. Such contributions are unpredictable and to a degree dependent on organizations adopting Nutch for their search needs. This will take time, but, long-term, is a healthier way for an open source project to evolve.

Good day. My name is Robert Berkman, and I am editor of The Information Advisor, an international monthly journal for information professionals, such as corporate librarians and market researchers. The Information Advisor provides sources and strategies for conducting effective business research.
I am currently writing a summary piece on emerging types of search engines, and wished to check on the status of Nutch. Is development still proceeding? Do you have an estimated time frame for a Beta product?
Thanks for any assistance with this.
