Hi:
I would like to take this opportunity to propose another idea. Nutch
should have a patch committing guidelines after all it effects how we
code and what way we should submit patch so it gets committed. This
makes easier and encouraging to when I know what exactly I need to do
to get my code in the branch. Off course committer will do quality
check. I hope every one share my thoughts.

This is not really enough, it is not very clear for so many folks, at
least not for me. Let me give you an example to illustrate. according
to Jira the second most wanted request including patch is spell
checker and the patch is there and its not committed. However same
code i.e. spell checker are already part of the distribution in the
contribute folder. Which makes me wonder why is this? It would be nice
to have the plugin spell checker that doesn't depend on another web
ui. just xml format like the search results would have been great, so
that we can develop our UI with php or ruby or etc. I really like the
Solr's approach here. It would be nice to do something like that.
I am not trying to point finger at anyone I am just saying a bit of
committing princple could be good plus. If you guys think this is a
good idea then I will give it a shot at writing such page and submit
here for consideration. I wanted to do a quick pulse check here.
