I figured it out.

1) Change contents of slave file to localhost.
2) Comment out everything within configuration tag of hadoop-site.xml (Removing
file does not work).
3) Comment out everything except JAVA_HOME in hadoop-env.sh.
4) Do not run bin/start-all.sh script.

Subject: Nutch Wothout Hadoop

While running Nutch-0.9 with Hadoop, I was unable to see my log4j messages in
my IndexingFilter plugin. Will I be able to see my log4j messages if I run
without Hadoop? How do I get Nutch to run without Hadoop?
