Summary: This draft is a replacement for RFC 7348 that moves that document to
the IETF stream from its previous Independent Submission. It creates an IANA
registration request for the VXLAN Flags. There are several nits (mostly dating
back to RFC 7348) that could also be fixed. [Ready with Nits]

Major issues: None

Minor issues: None

Nits:

Page 1, Abstract, 1st sentence: change “documents” to “document”.

Page 1, Abstract, 3rd sentence: change “RFC7348” to “RFC 7348”. (see RFC 7322,
section 3.5). Add a comma after “7348”.

Page 2, section 1, 1st sentence: change documents” to “document”.

Page 3, 1st paragraph, 1st sentence: append a comma after “[RFC7348]”.

Page 3, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence: append a comma after “(VMs)”.

Page 4, section 1.1: could these acronyms and definitions be done a single line
as was done in RFC 7348? As it stands, the two-line format adds unnecessary
length to the document.

Page 5, VXLAN Gateway definition: if you want to retain the two-line format,
then capitalize “an” in the definition. But, I would prefer that you go back to
the one-line format.

Page 5, section 3.1, 1st paragraph: The IEEE 802.1D reference (“[_02.1D]”) is
really odd looking and doesn’t match the original reference in RFC 7348. Please
change all of the IEEE 802.1 references back to having the 8 in them. Even RFC
7322 shows an example reference that looks like “[IEEE802.1Q]”.

Page 6, section 3.2, 1st paragraph, 1st sentence: append a comma after
“on-demand”.

Page 6, section 3.2, 2nd paragraph, 3rd sentence: there is an extraneous
paragraph split here that should be removed.

Page 11, Outer IP Header definition, 1st sentence: there is an extraneous
paragraph split here that should be removed.

Page 15, section 6, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence: consider changing “on” to “in”
twice in this sentence. I tend to think of servers as being in racks, not on
them.

Page 15, section, 2nd paragraph, last sentence: append a comma after “finally”.

Page 18, Figure 4 caption: if possible, try to attach the caption to the figure
in a non-breaking manner. In the text version of the document, it appears at
the top of the page by itself.

Page 18, section 7, 3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence: fix the IEEE 802.1X reference.

Page 19, section 8.2, 1st sentence: change “VxLAN” to “VXLAN” to match every
other usage in this document.
