Anyone tried OpenSolaris with the Option GlobeSurfer HSDPA wifi router? I have one such configuration and I'm experiencing a little problem when receiving a DHCP IP address from the router. From what I have tried, Windows machines and my Nokia Symbian phones all pass easily the DHCP negotiation phase and get IP addresses rather quickly, but OpenSolaris seems to be having some distress with that.
Sometimes I monitor /var/adm/messages with tail -f and I see messages like this: ath0 link up ath0 link down going to auto-conf and nwam just sits, no IP address, no prompt for another wifi network. After a few svcadm restart nwam's I see lots of messages in /var/adm/messages like this: ath0 link up ath0 link down ath0 link up ath0 link down ath0 has a bad address and then nwam shows me the "Got IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" message box. Sometimes it takes me a reboot to successfully get an IP address. Since I have the pci168c,1c Atheros hardware, I am using ath 0.7.2 that is available for download on this community's page and not the ones shipped with the latest SXCE builds (those will never plumb ath0 in my machine). Any hint who is to blame? Any other thoughts or comments? Cheers, Douglas This message posted from opensolaris.org
