If the percentage of market share that Apple had was a larger (waffle)
portion of the market I might say that was a good argument. But given
that recently has been put at ~5% of the computer manufacturer market
share I disagree. Multiply that by the coorlation between the two
markets and its not clear that this new strategy is correct for a large
portion of our current or future users.

I think we should provide the generic mechanism and use feedback from
customers to provide support for commonly used ones. This provides a
nice extension mechanism both for our power users and for quickly
reacting new things people want to do without needing to rev any of the
supported software components. If feedback suggests that we should
provide built in support for certain things then we add that in the
future.

That is start with a way that users can do a wider set of operations
and refine that as time permits instead of starting out with less
functionality and extending that as necessary. That probably indicates
my bias towards building infrastructure that developers can use to
build systems instead of trying to build software intended for end user
consumption. But I think thats a reasonable differentiation between
SMI and AAPL also.
