I've not seen anything to indicate the whoiswhy site (which has been up a while) is the reason for him nuking everything.
In fact the twitter post made earlier in the day suggested he was pissed off with the realisation that code doesn't work forever (unless it's a game) and someone is always trying to code something better. It does raise some questions about the security of building apps utilising open source modules homed on a user's profile on GitHub. It looks like someone has mirrored (using forks from other users) most of the popular repositories _why had.
