This old chestnut...

A couple of years ago I planned to set up an "alternative" recruitment agency
that was run entirely by people who work in the industry in positions similar
to ones they're helping to place. It meant that clients would have an initial
conversation with people who understood the role (and culture), and the
candidates would not be able to get away with a flaky buzzword-packed CV so
only people who are respected by peers would get to go forward for
consideration.

In the end, I got tied up with other stuff, but maybe I'll revisit that and
other possibilities. I know Jamie (ex-Engine Yard) did something around
changing the recruitment consultancy landscape, and there are a couple of
agencies who are more clued up than others in Rails in particular. Will need to
go and look at the state of the market.

The reality is though, there are plenty of sites out there to find us directly
(and I've had work from workingwithrails.com before), so there is something
else going on here. I've noticed plenty of people looking for devs out there,
but seem to think a senior RoR dev is only worth $10-$15/hour. Insane. Might
just be time to move onto something else....
