Top tips for finding beer in London:

1. The CAMRA book/app is worth referring to
2. So is the Casque Mark app
3. It's rare to see ale with a proper head
4. If it serves keg ales, it's probably very expensive for everything including
ale
5. If the postcode starts with E or N, exercise caution: you might have
accidentally stumbled into a trendy bar. Check your surroundings, or risk
paying £5/pint
6. If the postcode starts W, exercise caution: you might have accidentally
stumbled into a gastro pub. Check for blackboards containing the words
"platter", "jus" or "fennel", and if any of them are found you may with to
leave or risk paying £5/pint
7. If you are in Soho, leave
8. If your postcode begins with "S" but not "SW", your night is about to get
interesting...

That said, loads of decent boozers with a bit of exploration, but hard to find
by chance. Loads and loads of Sam Smith's boozers around Holborn for example.
