I'd say senior is often more 32-45k these days (in Manchester)
from what I've seen, rather than entry level!
Are Sage really paying 65k?
Not entirely sure who could afford an entry level fresh
graduate, who'll need training in Ruby at 35k+? Remember
companies need to make a return on investment on your time.
Been (oh sooo much) time since I was a fresh grad, but surely
it's more 19-24 entry level? Would be good to train up a few
people in time, so it'd be genuinely good to know what
expectations are at the entry level. They've obviously all got
a lot of uni debts to repay.
Guess team jobs in Manchester, are different to solo remote
(team) work as well, where presumably if you're top 5% and like
actually working at home or without the office distractions,
you could compete with the very best in SF/NYC/London. So maybe
even £100k permie is possible for the l33t few?

Will: There is a difference between what wages should be, and
what is being offered by the majority of companies in
manchester.

There are some outliers, but if you’re talking majority of jobs
are going to be agency jobs, you’re not really going to get
much more than that for entry level, unfortunately. I’d like to
see where you think these 35k entry level jobs are in
manchester?

Not sure if this applies for everyone, seem to remember there
was a lot of chat on IRC about this a little while back, but
entry was around 18-20 for most people, add circa 10k for a

18-20 is bollocks. If you're earning that as a programmer, even
a
junior one, you're getting screwed.

Will.
