A two hour walk around the North end of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay this
morning revealed rewarding birds with the highlights being 2 Wilson's
Phalaropes, the American Avocet, and an American Golden-Plover amongst the
50+Black-bellied Plover flock.  Other good birds included a single Pectoral
sandpiper, approx. 12 White-rumped sandpipers, 7 Stilt sandpipers, and a Little
Blue Heron.  A total of 16 shorebird species was recorded.  All the birds seen
were once again at the North end with a few other birders around 10:30am.  At
around 11:15am, a Peregrine falcon swooped in and scared the hundreds of
shorebirds sending them in all directions.
