** I finally made it to Staten Island this afternoon, after getting a call from my friend Howard Fischer reminding me that the Rufous Hummingbird was still making appearances in his backyard. I was treated to spectacular looks of the bird and hung out with "Teddy" the Rufous Hummingbird and Howie until light began to fade. Howie as many have noted, is a terrific birder and host and welcomes all who wishes to see the bird. Good luck if you go.
