An early morning hike around Sunken Meadow state park this morning did turn up 
a Cackling Goose in a flock of 75 or so Canada Geese.  This particular flock 
was feeding on the baseball fields on the Eastern edge of the parkway just past 
the entrance for Field five.  I did check every single flock of Geese--but 
found nothing else.  Other highlights included
Pied-billed Grebe
Common loons
Long-tailed ducks- FOS
all three species of Scoter- lots on Sound
15 Hooded Mergansers
Winter wren
White-crowned sparrow- immature foraging in brushy abandones lot West of Field 
One
Purple finch- three in maple and cedars West of Boardwalk

At Tung Ting Pond in Centerport:
31 Bufflehead
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Ring-necked duck
Green-winged Teal
Canvasback- FOS
Mallards
Lesser Scaup- FOS
Hooded Mergansers
