A single Cackling Goose was once again frequenting the ball fields past the
entrance to Field five at Sunken Meadow state park today at 10:30am.  I arrived
at the park around 8:30am and immediately coming in, saw the huge Canada geese
flock.  I pulled over to observe the geese and found nothing amongst the
flock.  Then I decided to hike the trail heading to the spectacular bluff
overlooking the entire LI Sound.  It's a very scenic vista and on a day like
today, when it is clear, you can see Conneticut quite nicely.  During my hike I
saw a flyby Merlin, Yellow-bellied sapsucker, an Eastern Bluebird, Fish crows,
and seventeen Common loons floating on the placid water.  On my way out of the
park at approximately 11:15am, I pulled over to observe an even larger flock of
Geese and this particular one contained the Cackling Goose.  No Pink-footed or
Barnacle Goose today from my report.
