Posted on Genesee Birds only but worthy of wider dissemination. A few Cave Swallows were reported from CT and NJ in late Oct, but I'm not aware of any being reported from coastal sites today or over the weekend. Suspect they are following an arc and will perhaps filter east and/or south during the week.
Subject: Cave Swallows - Hamlin Beach From: Andy Guthrie <guthrand AT gmail.com> Date: Mon, 9 Nov 2009 14:15:56 -0500 There has been a nice movement of Cave Swallows at Hamlin Beach so far today. Dave Tetlow called me a little before 10 am to say two had passed going east. As of noon when I arrived they were up to 8. Between about 12:40 and 1:30, several flocks went by, totaling another 47 birds. All of the latter birds were moving west, a fair ways in from the shoreline, and getting pretty high at times. There was also a lone Northern Rough-winged Swallow moving east earlier in the morning, not associated with any Cave Swallows.
