Andy called a while ago to report that the MEW GULL was present this morning
at about 8 o'clock, out on the water about 100 yards north of the Bay 16th
Street crosswalk. At about 8 15, it flew eastward, inland with a group of
Ring-bills.

I've heard some speculation that that departure is because the gulls go to a
pigeon feeding station somewhere in the nearby neighborhood.

After an indeterminate period of time, they return to the waterfront park
and/or adjacent waters.
