On Tuesday afternoon, (6 April, 2010) John van Dort, the official counter at the Sandy Hook (New Jersey) hawk-watch observed & photographed a Swallow-tailed Kite, which was seen flying north in the direction of Coney Island at about 1:25 p.m. (The kite could have moved on to New England on Tuesday's winds and warmth yet it also could be on or over Long Island or elsewhere in NY today).... so - keep an "eye to the sky". For those who don't immediately recognize "Coney Island" that's as in Brooklyn, New York, as in western Long Island, NY.

http://www.hawkcount.org/day_summary.php?rsite=340&go=Go+to+site should get one to a report if looked at during the day today (Wed.), after that try http://www.hawkcount.org/month_summary.php (and select Sandy Hook Migration Watch, see April 6)
