No Wilson's Phalarope on the West Pond today, but Tom Burke and Gail Benson
found a pair (male and female) on the East Pond around the "raunt". They were
viewed from the overlook on the west side of the pond (past Big John's Pond).
At this time of year, there is no shoreline for birders to walk and not much
for shorebirds either. The phalaropes were seen either on mats of algae or
swimming. At one point, they flew off to more northerly sections of the pond,
but returned and spent at least a couple of hours ranging from maybe a hundred
yards north to a hundred yards south of the raunt.

Back at bench 12 on the West Pond, White-faced Ibis has been present for
considerable amounts of time (not always visible), despite occasionally flying
out into the north marsh. Tom believes there may be two different birds.
