There was a nice land bird flight at Ft. Tilden and Riis Park, Queens County
this morning. The highlight was a Western Kingbird seen along the fence
line at the southwest corner of the Riis Park golf course. An American
Woodcock flushed in the dunes at the eastern edge of Ft. Tilden. The flight
included 17 Blue Jays and a Hairy Woodpecker -- good birds for the barrier
beach - as well as Savannah Sparrow, Cedar Waxwing, American Goldfinch,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Red-winged Blackbird, Purple Finch, and other usual
species. We also saw 6 White-crowned Sparrows including one adult.

Observers: Seth Ausubel, Stella Miller.
