I found a male Eurasian Wigeon on the Mill Pond in Oyster Bay at noon today. Looks like these are blowing in all over the place.
I put two photos up on my blog: http://www.weekdaybirding.com/2010/11/oyster-bay-eurasian-wigeon/ I am judging this bird to be a first-winter male based on the main body plumage, so that's at least different from the other reports I've seen this winter. The bird also has a strange gray collar around its neck, which neither Sibley nor Collins show, but I don't know enough about the species to say if that indicates anything strange. Good birding!
