As an addendum to Seth Ausable's report, Lila Fried and I spotted both the adult and immature Black-headed Gulls on the Veterans Memorial Pier this morning at 8:45 am. They were sitting within a few feet of each other at the far end of the pier.
We also searched unsuccessfully for the King Eider at Fort Tilden, but we did find a single Harlequin Duck near the jetties.
