Hi Everyone, There were 2 Great Cormorants and 3 Purple
Sandpipers,[east side] at the Inlet today. One of the G.Cormorants , a
juvenile, was sitting at the base of the ocean Buoy that is directly out
from the inlets mouth. Common Eiders were still abundant around the bay and
inlet . Just east of Triton Lane Dick Belanger and I found a flock of 22
American Pipits and a single "Ipswich", Savannah Sparrow. Just west of
Triton was a single American Bittern, perhaps the same that Luke Ormand
photographed recently. Lastly, there was a RedTail Hawk in the cedars by the
Quogue bay side boardwalk. A bird not seen often along Dune Rd. No sign of
the SE Owl today ,just the usual N. Harriers. Good January Birding,
Carl Starace
