A two and a half hour search for the Leconte's Sparrow at the Calverton
Grasslands yesterday was unsuccessful. The Lark Sparrow was relocated by Sam
Janazzo and Pat Jones on the north side of Route 25 west of the main entrance
in the company of Savannah Sparrows. The Rough-legged Hawk was seen briefly
early in the morning. Overall bird activity was low compared to Sunday.

At Shinnecock Inlet there were good numbers of gulls (including about
thirty-five Bonaparte's Gulls) but nothing of interest. On Dune Road west of
the Ponquogue Bridge to Dolphin Lane there were a number of American Pipits
scattered in small groups of 1-3 birds, an American Bittern, two (Ipswich)
Savannah Sparrows, and a Wilson's Snipe (salt marsh near Dolphin Lane).
