Speaking of impending spring: on Wednesday I had a Woodcock foraging in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and yesterday one out at Floyd Bennett Field (also in Brooklyn). The bird at FBF was "peenting" in the brush before hopping out onto the edge of the tarmac and then flying off.
