Today around 4:00, Betsy spotted a White-crowned Sparrow in the yard. It
fed in the grass and when it returned a few hours later, it fed under a
spruce tree where we throw seed most of the year (but not now!). I was able
to digiscope a few shots. This is the latest spring migrant we have ever
seen. For a brief period, a YELLOW WARBLER was on the ground near the
sparrow, making an odd couple.

I suspect there are a lot more late migrants out there due to the very wet
spring with relatively limited migration opportunities.

Good birding!
Willie
