A mountain bike rider who has been assisting in efforts to restore the meadows of Stillwell Woods Preserve in Syosset alerted me to a cattle egret in the back field. It has apparently been there since Saturday and is still present today.
The preserve is on South Woods Road. When you arrive, drive all the way down to the far end, near the gate across the trail to park. Take the wide trail into the preserve, looking for the Do Not Mow signs on your left. The egret is in that field.
