Finally made the early morning trek to the west pond at Jamaica Bay WR
this morning. When I got there at 6:45 AM there were two women there
already and they had the Barrow's Goldeneye found. Watched it swim
around and bath itself for just under a half hour. As soon as the sun
cleared the treetops and hit the water the Goldeneyes and Red-breasted
Mergansers took flight off the pond. I wonder if on a overcast day,
they might stay later. Flight time was 7:12AM
