Yesterday Derek Rogers posted his sightings of at least six Whimbrels at Cedar Beach County Park, Southold. This post caught my attention, as my wife and I also saw a group of least six Whimbrels at the same place last April, behaving as Rogers described. It seems Cedar Beach is a stopping-off point for migrating Whimbrels, in both directions. Maybe they were even the same individuals.
