To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Highlights of reports received September 13 through September 20 from the Niagara Frontier Region include LONG- B. DOWITCHER, L. BLACK-B. GULL, warblers, LINCOLN'S SPARROW and PINE SISKIN. September 16 at Goose Pond in the Oak Orchard Wildlife Management Area, an adult LONG-B. DOWITCHER. Other shorebird highlights this week - AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER at the Batavia Waste Water Plant, SANDERLING in the Southern Tier at the Onoville Marina on the Allegany Reservoir, several dozen PECTORAL SANDPIPER and 11 WILSON'S SNIPE at Kumpf Marsh in the Iroquois Refuge, and GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER and peep sandpipers at most locations. In Dunkirk Harbor, September 18, three L. BLACK-B. GULLS - juvenile, third-year and adult, plus 4 REDHEADS, 430 D.- CREST. CORMORANTS, BL.-CR. NIGHT-HERON and CASPIAN TERN. A strong week for warbler migration, a total of 19 species this week. Highlighted by at least 17 species at Amherst State Park, 12 species at a yard pond in the Town of Wilson, and 10 warbler species on the West Perimeter Road at the Allegany Reservoir, with 3 RUBY-T. HUMMINGBIRDS, 3 SCARLET TANAGERS, 10 ROSE-BR. GROSBEAKS and 4 PURPLE FINCHES. Other migrants with the warblers - first reports of BLUE- HEADED VIREO and LINCOLN'S SPARROW, with PHILADELPHIA VIREO, VEERY, GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, SWAINSON'S THRUSH and HERMIT THRUSH. September 15, a PINE SISKIN at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo. Other reports this week - BALD EAGLE soaring over Ralph Wilson Stadium during the national anthem. Two MERLINS on Shirley Avenue in Buffalo, and a single MERLIN at the Batavia Waste Water Plant. And, GREAT EGRET numbers are way down on the upper Niagara River, but still numerous in the Iroquois Refuge and surrounding areas. The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, September 27.
