Are they closing a building or access to the entire area? Is the area protected as a mapped park, either in the Town of Islip or the county or state? Does the Town have a plan to sell the property or repurpose it or are they simply closing access because they can't afford to have staff present? If it is a dedicated park, it might require State legislation to alienate (sell) it.
