Hi Andrew, I'm not on ABA so can't post about the avocet etc. but I have
blog of my own where I post my pics http://longislandbirding.blogspot.com/
I was at the JB Coast Guard Station looking for the avocet around 3:30 ,
but there were no signs of it...just saw short billed dowitchers, common
loon, black scoter flock, semi palmated sandpipers, sanderling in breeding
plumage.  There were 2 obnoxious guys that walked onto the spit and were
chasing the birds away, so chances are they spooked the avocet away.  Could
you please post this on ABA?  I know it's sometimes helpful to post
non-sightings too.
