I spent over 7 hours on the East Pond today, having a decent number of shorebirds to look at; however, the variety remain low for this time of the year.
The trend of some birds nott sticking around for more than a day or two continues. For example Wednesday's *WILSON's PHALAROPE* and Thursday's *PECTORAL SANDPIPER* each pulled out after a day or two. Not sure if this is just a result of birds anxious to keep moving south or if the behavior is due to the Peregrine pressure or habitat changes. A few *WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS* were still around today but a much smaller number than Wednesday when Ken Fuestel and I had over 15. Today, between myself Tom Burke and Gail Benson, we probably had at least 5. *STILT SANDPIPERS* are still present in decent numbers around the pond as well as Short-billed Dowitcher*, *Semipalmated Sandpipers** and Least Sandpipers. Juvenile numbers of Lesser Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitchers, Semipalmated Sandpipers and Least Sandpipers have all increased. Today, I had my first juvenile Semipalmated Plover. Other highlights include, 2 *RED KNOTS* buried in the flock of Short-billed Dowitchers and 4 *WESTERN WILLETS* who touched down on the pond briefly.
