Early this morning Derek Rogers found a Baird's Sandpiper in the ponds that lie
east of WE2 and west of the Nature Center. The bird was still present late this
morning. A good variety of shorebirds were present in the ponds on the high
tide, including Stilt (4), Pectoral (1), and White-rumped (5) Sandpipers.
Waterfowl included Blue and Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, and Mallard. I
estimated that there were between five hundred and a thousand shorebirds in the
ponds. Mosquitoes were not a problem (yet).
