The previously reported FRANKLIN'S GULLS (two first-winter birds) and BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE at the south end of Squaw Island, Buffalo were joined by a second KITTIWAKE this morning. All four of these birds, at various times, were at close-focus or closer range. Just spectacular and well worth the trip. Both of the first-year Kittiwakes lacked a black nape bar.
There are lots of Bonaparte's Gulls on the Niagara River now and the number of large gulls is slowly building. GLAUCOUS, ICELAND, and LITTLE GULLS were reported in the Niagara Falls and Lewiston areas today. Good birding!
