Hi again all,

It may seem obvious - or not - but to avoid any possible confusion ...
the town of Stuyvesant, NY that is in Columbia County is not where a
Varied Thrush is being seen. (& yes, someone did inquire, privately...)

It's in the community in Manhattan's east side, little old New York
City.
and the area is on the east side just east of First Avenue; an entryway
to the area & the particular site the thrush is being seen in is east
from
East 18th Street. Walk in, and then a left turn at a crosswalk once into
the Stuyvesant town complex, soon bringing you to the larger (& open)
"oval" area with the large Christmas tree and fairly large menorah
there.
That's where the Oval Study building is, and the thrush has been to the
right of that building in the shrubs or trees or (if lucky) out in the
open -
with lots of room on the paved walkway to stand and observe. A guard
kiosk or small 'house' is a short way farther than this on the oval,
as is
the big Christmas tree. There's a very good chance other birders and a
few photographers will be right there observing or waiting. As indicated
by Pat and lots of others, patience may pay dividends in seeing a bird
well...

Please, do be respectful of:
that shy bird & other birds - other birders - all other people in the
area -
and remember it is a residential community, a quieter space within the
bustle of the big city; maybe that's why the thrush is staying there
now.

p.s, there are lots of restaurants and shops in the area, so no shortage
of all that sort of thing to do for anyone coming in and wishing
to.... the
E. Village & a dozen other neighborhoods of the city are within a
mile...

good luck, and happy winter's solstice (Sat.)
