January 06, 2013

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     1/10: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on VanDyne Spoor Road. One SNOWY OWL was 
located from the potato building in the mucklands on Rt. 31.


Onondaga County
------------

     1/8: The Beaver Lake Nature Center SAW-WHET was seen. It was relocated on 
1/12. One SNOWY OWL was seen at Hancock Airport in Syracuse.
     1/9: In what is beginning to be quite a spectacle 30 BALD EAGLES were 
counted on Onondaga Lake at the end of the Creekwalk near Carousel Center. A 
LONG-EARED OWL was seen at Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville. Two were 
heard on the tenth.
     1/10: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on Maykes Road south of Syracuse. 39 BALD 
EAGLES were counted at the end of the creekwalk. 6 ICELAND GULLS and 5 GLAUCOUS 
GULLS were seen at the Inner Harbor in Syracuse.
     1/13: 4 SNOWY OWLS were seen at Hancock Airport in Syracuse. Another was 
seen in the shopping area near the intersection of Rts. 481 and 31 in the Town 
of Clay.


Oswego County
------------

     1/8: 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were found at Rice Creek Field Station in 
Oswego.
     1/10: A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen at Sunset Bay Park.
     1/12: A BLACK SCOTER was seen at Derby Hill. A KING EIDER was found in the 
Oswego River near Oswego Harbor with White-winged Scoters. A PEREGRINE FALCON 
was seen chasing Rock Pigeons in the same area.


Herkimer County
------------

     1/10: A WILSON’S SNIPE was seen on Carleson Road north of Little Falls.
     1/13: 2 SNOWY OWLS were seen on Cole Road north of Little Falls.
