Eric Miller, just called to report that the Le Conte's Sparrow continues in the same area yesterday (see Doug Gochfeld's e-mail below for directions). The bird was observed with Bobby and Colleen Veltri.
I would ask that anyone trying for this bird to PLEASE refrain from chasing it around in an effort to try and get "good" photos. Let's allow this bird to be seen by as many as possible. Good looking out yesterday Brooklyn peeps, that's the way to get the word out. Good luck if you try and many thanks to Eric for the report. 風 Swift as the wind 林 Quiet as the forest 火 Conquer like the fire 山 Steady as the mountain Sun Tzu <http://refspace.com/quotes/Sun_Tzu> *The Art of War* <http://refspace.com/quotes/The_Art_of_War> (\__/) (= '.'=) (") _ (") Sent from somewhere in the field using my mobile device! The bird is in a brushy just east of the Polytechnic baseball field. Coordinates are roughly 40.58399, -73.878069. Enter at the south entrance to Floyd Bennett, drive straight along that road until it bends to the left and at that bend take the dead end road to the right that runs alongside an old building. Park there. Looking towards the bay, there are a couple of low overgrown cement structures ahead of you, and an orange plastic fence that says "keep out" to the left. Access the field by walking around the right side of the cement structures, through the yellow jersey barrier. It was between the cement structure closest to the shore and the water. The bird is very cooperative at times, eating well, and seems to prefer running around on the ground in view rather than flushing. The Cassin's Kingbird continues in the Community Garden as well.
